Our dogs are more than just part of the Flying Paws family, they’re part of how we teach, learn, and stay grounded in what dogs really need

Zani is Pat’s 8-year-old Border Collie and her fifth one at that! With a heart full of energy and a brain to match, Zani is equal parts class clown and canine genius. He’s the life of the party, always ready to make people laugh, but don’t let his goofy grin fool you, he’s one smart cookie who’s always keen to give anything a go … usually at full speed and in his own unique style.

When he’s not showing off his moves, Zani loves a good snooze in the office and taking his job as a “professional distraction dog” very seriously during private lessons, helping dogs practise focus and confidence around real-world distractions. Whether he’s helping other dogs build confidence or just offering a fun distraction, Zani brings fun, flair, and a whole lot of heart to everything he does!

Murphy was Molly’s Maremma and, in many ways, the dog who helped shape Flying Paws into what it is today.

Far from the easiest dog in his younger years, Murph taught us more about behaviour, patience and understanding than we could ever gave imagined. The lessons he gave us continue to influence every class, session and consult we deliver today.

As he grew older, the dog who once struggled himself became the calm, steady presence we could rely on to help other dogs through their own journey. Murphy had a way of making the world feel just a little calmer.

Murph passed away in 2026 at 11 years of age, leaving behind a legacy far greater than any cue he ever learnt. He changed the way we understand dogs, and because of him, so many dogs and their families have benefited from the lessons he taught us.

There will never be another Murphy but his impact will forever be a part of Flying Paws.

Fox is Molly’s 2-year-old Border Collie and the youngest member of the Flying Paws crew. Currently in his teenage years, Fox brings a whole lot of joy, a little bit of chaos, and those delightfully lanky legs to everything he does.

He’s our class demo dog, learning with enthusiasm, and a smile that could win over anyone. Fox loves getting involved in training sessions and showing that learning can be fun, silly, and full of heart.

In 2026, Fox was nominated for the Australian Dog of the Year, an incredible achievement for such a young dog. Fox’s journey reminds us that learning isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress, curiosity, and showing up as you are.
